BOOK A VISIT FROM US!

Skolesystemet

Our student advisors are based all over the country and make local visits to schools in their area and include travel to other areas in the spring or fall when possible, to help reach out to more schools. Whenever possible we would love to visit you on campus and have a chance to meet speak with you and your students face-to face. But we always have extensive experience in hosting online visits if this is preferable for your school or easier to schedule due to location.

In-Person Visits

If we are able to schedule an in-person visit, this is what you can expect:

Audience

We do not expect a large number of students, our usual audience size is where from 1 to 8 students. Maybe no one will show up, but that's a risk we're willing to take. We would like to be there for those who are interested in studying in the UK and need help to get there, whether it is 1 or 50 students.

This is intended for all secondary school or college students who are interested in information about studying in the UK, whether looking to apply this year, next year, or just gathering information for the future.

Format

We are very flexible in relation to the format for the visit.

Most commonly, we give a presentation of approx. 20 minutes and afterwards take questions from the group or one-on-one from those who wish. We recommend that you inform the students in grades 11 and 12 (or any year of a college programme) that we will be arriving in advance. If we know approximately how many people will come to listen to us, we can adjust the presentation accordingly. Based on the size of group, a smaller room for the presentation will make it easier for the students to get in touch with the student advisor and it may not feel so scary to ask questions when they are sitting more together as a group.

Alternatively, we can also set up a table stand in your school for a couple of hours so that interested students could stop by to speak with one of our student advisors in between classes or when convenient to them. We would certainly recommend a presentation, as it ensures everyone gets basic information and maybe even answers to questions they hadn’t yet thought to ask. The feedback we get from the students is that they get much more out of a presentation and it places less pressure on those who may be interested in the information but are shy to come over and ask questions by themselves.

Topics

Our presentations can be a general or tailored as would suit your students’ interests. Most often, schools prefer a general presentation as it may be the first chance some students have had to consider going abroad to study. However, we could also tailor a presentation to suit:

  • Specific subject interests: For example, law and physio are two of the most popular subjects for Canadians to pursue in the UK, we’d be happy to speak specifically on one of these subject to an interested Civics or Exercise Science class.
  • Students actively applying: If you have students who have already notified you about their interests in studying in the UK and are looking into the application process, we can cover a more detailed walk-through of everything from what to expect from a UK application (UCAS) to what is required in terms of visas.
  • A selection of universities from our partner portfolio.

Advising Sessions

If any of your students would like a meeting with one of our student advisors outside of school hours, we are of course available for that as well.

Follow-up

Following a presentation or during a table stand, your students will also be able to register their interest to receive more information from us by email. The student advisor who visited and spoke with them will become their very on personal student advisor. They will continue to work one-on-one with any students that are interested in learning more and can help with everything from writing a personal statement to sorting accommodation to packing before leaving Canada. We are there to support them through it all!

ONLINE SCHOOL VISIT

On several occasions, we have worked closely with student counsellors and teachers to create digital solutions if we aren’t able to visit in-person. You choose the time yourself - whether you want this to take place during or after school hours. A counsellor or teacher does not need to be present if you do not want to or have the time/possibility!

Just like an in-person visit, an online visit will be private and with access available only to your students (and even their parents). One of our student advisors will give a "live" presentation of approximately 5-20 minutes to students. The presentation can be as general or specific as you like.

We will arrange all of the software required, all you will need to do is pass on a shareable link to interested students or parents. If your students will join individually, all they will need is a laptop (preferable) or phone and an internet connection. If you would prefer to have your students join as a group, then you’ll need internet and a computer with projector. When possible to have students join individually this has the benefit of allowing them to send questions directly to us without the other participants seeing the questions. In a group presentation, a representative or counsellor would need to send through any questions from the group during the presentation. We can also make a recording which is sent to you/the students afterwards.

All our student advisors have themselves studied in the UK and are happy to tell you about their experience! They also have many years of experience in answering questions from students who want to study abroad about the application process, the admission requirements and what it takes to be successful with the application to the UK!
