City St George’s has a rich heritage spanning nearly 300 years. St George’s, University of London began teaching medicine and surgery in 1752, following the establishment of St George’s hospital in 1733. City, University of London – originally the Northampton Polytechnic Institute – was founded in the late 19th century and grew to encompass science, technology, business, journalism, and law.

On 1 August 2024, the two institutions merged to form City St George’s, University of London.
