Why Apply with Across the Pond
Every year we help around 500-1000 Canadian students with their application to the UK, which means we can provide expert advice to support students through the entire process. This is something we are very proud of - and all the positive feedback from advisers, parents and not least the students themselves is something that makes us always want to maintain the personalised support service we offer.
Everyone at Across the Pond has studied in the UK themselves and we know how confusing the process of researching schools and applying abroad can be. Our student advisors are passionate about helping others who want to study in the UK, because they all had fantastic experiences and wish they could do it all over again. We love the thrill of helping a student pursue their dreams and being able to re-live our own UK study adventure through each student.
All students receive help from a personal student advisor. This means that students have one dedicated person who supports them through the entire process, from early stages of learning what the UK has to offer to packing their bags and boarding the plane.
ALL HELP FROM US IS COMPLETELY FREE:
We are available all year round. All our tutors are full-time employees. Since summer is a very key period when students need to apply for a visa, finalise their accommodation, pay their tuition, arrange travel and arrival in the UK, we are able to ensure they have support all the way until their start classes. Any issues that come up during this time, whether on the university end or student end should be handled urgently as even something small could jeopardise the student’s plans entirely. If you have concerns about what would happen to your students if they had an issue over summer break while your school was closed, you can rest assured that their Across the Pond advisor would be there to help them immediately and escalate any concerns with our contacts at the university.
We respond to emails within 48 hours (Monday-Friday).
We know what a good application should look like - and applying through us increases the chances of admission.
We help with writing and proofreading personal statements (letter of intent) - the most important part of the application and is required for all applications – even undergraduate! Keep in mind especially, the tone and format encouraged and accepted by many North American universities does not fit with the expectations of a UK admission audience.
We know well what the admission requirements at the various universities should be. All universities have their own admissions requirements when it comes to Canadian students, and these are rarely published in full. We can therefore help the universities to correct errors if they should provide incorrect information, admission requirements, or even offers. Unfortunately, it happens more often than one would like because they do not have an in-depth understanding of the Canadian school system.
We regularly visit all our university partners and can therefore tell prospective students what it's like there.
We keep in touch with everyone who wants to throughout their studies and if they encounter problems, we are happy to help resolve them. We have contacts at each university that we can call upon to help a student on campus.
We only work with recognized and quality universities that are eligible for support from Canadian Student Loans.
Our universities offer housing on campus, in most cases accommodation is guaranteed for international students in their first year provided they apply by set deadlines.
We help students apply to universities that suit their level in terms of needs, wishes, ambitions, academic background and grades.
We are happy to help students arrange a visit to the universities and sometimes even a visit to the department with a student or faculty member.
We have university partners all across the UK and can help students find the best option for them. Many students might not know much about the UK apart from London our advisors have travelled extensively across the UK.
