Canadian Student Loans

Can I apply for Canadian Student Loans to Use in the UK?

Yes! You can almost always use Canadian student loans to help pay for your British education with the exception of a few of our partner universities. Students who are looking to apply to Canadian student loans (federal and/or provincial) should plan to fill out the student loan application for their province of residence as usual and the loan providers will assess your application based on your plans to study in the UK. Universities that are designated as "Private" institutions may not qualify for Canadian student loans.

Students are encouraged to check with their provincial loan provider whether their chosen UK university/programme has previously been approved or if approval steps will need to be taken. If the university/programme has not yet been approved as a higher education institution by your provincial student aid body, then the university will typically need to submit additional paperwork to obtain approval before students can proceed with finalising loan applications. If this is the case, this paperwork should be started early so that it does not impact your ability to get a loan confirmation letter.

Please refer to the Government of Canada’s website for further information on how to apply.
