The University of Southampton is a truly international university with a global reputation for leading-edge research and innovation. Part of the exclusive Russell Group, the University of Southampton has been consistently rated in top 15 research universities in the UK and was ranked 14th in the Complete University Guide 2016. Their areas of expertise cover the arts, law, oceanography, engineering, science, mathematics, social science, medicine, health and life sciences and offer degree programs in more than 65 areas. Southampton is also the only Law School in the UK to offer a 2 Year accelerated LLB with a JD Pathway, with a core half-year module in Constitutional Law of Canada - giving students a competitive edge when transferring to practice Law in Canada.

South Coast City Life
Located on the south coast of England, the city of Southampton has one of the mildest climates in the UK.  Famous for the sailing of the Titanic in 1912, Southampton is surrounded by places of historical interest, such as Winchester, Stonehenge and Salisbury, which provided inspiration for the novels of Jane Austen. London is just over one hour away by train. Southampton has excellent transport links to the UK and European cities via train, car, coach, ferry and plane. Southampton is a founding member of the Worldwide Universities Network, which links world research institutions across the UK, USA and Canada. This friendly and safe maritime English city has about 220,000 residents and offers some of the finest for theater, music and film venues. Southampton also provides numerous opportunities to get become a member of sports clubs or simply practice sailing, windsurfing and diving.

Campuses of University of Southampton
Southampton is made up of six different campuses located across Southampton and Winchester, as well as the recently formed University of Southampton Malaysian Campus in EduCity at Iskandar.

  • The Highfield Campus hosts the majority of academic programs and boasts a hub of activity, including sports facilities, the Hartley Library, Students Union, cafés and weekly campus market
  • The Avenue Campus houses the Faculty of Humanities along with the Center for Language Study. It also has its own library, lecture theaters and catering facilities
  • The National Oceanography Center Southampton is one of the top global research centers for the study of the ocean and earth sciences
  • Southampton General Hospital is home to the University’s Faculty of Medicine
  • Founded in 1863, the Winchester School of Art is located just twelve miles north of Southampton in Winchester. The Schools of Art boasts unique purpose-designed buildings including specialist art and design studios, workshops, a library with special collections, The Winchester Gallery and Students' Union
  • The Boldrewood Innovation Campus is home to some of our most up-to-date buildings and facilities. It houses their center for innovation, business, and education in maritime engineering and engineering sciences

The Southampton campuses are all linked by the university’s UniLink bus service, which is free for all students who are living in the Halls of Residence.

Support for Students from Canada

The university welcomes applications from Canada, and their dedicated International Office team regularly travel to North America to meet with prospective students. Each year the university runs a Southampton Welcome program designed to introduce new international students to the university and to the City of Southampton. The ‘Meet and Greet’ service is run free of charge to collect students at London Heathrow Airport and bring them to their university residence.

Physiotherapy is a very popular subject for Canadian students and we'd be delighted to help you apply!  We can help you apply for a physiotherapy program at either the bachelor's or Master's level.  A physiotherapy degree will be transferable back to Canada. The Winchester School of Art

The University of Southampton prides itself on being a research-intensive academic institution, but with this image, many students do not realize that they have their own Art and Design school.  This is indeed rare for any member of the Russell Group; only two institutions in the Russell Group have an Art School. (“Russell Group” universities are those universities in the UK that maintain the best research, teaching, student learning experience and business links.  There are currently only 24 universities out of the 120-odd total universities that are in the Russell Group
