City, University of London traces its origins back to 1894 and gained university status in 1966. It is a global university committed to academic excellence with a focus on business and the professions and a member institution of the University of London.

Located in London, the world’s best city for university students (QS Best Student Cities 2018), City has an enviable central location, being close to the City of London (the financial district) and only a short bus ride from the theatres and shops of the West End. 

City attracts over 18,000 students from around 160 countries. The University is ranked 2ndin the UK for graduate salaries six months after graduation by The Student Room (using averaged course salary data published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency, January 2018) and 7thin UK for relative graduate starting salaries by The Economist 2017

City offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, has close contacts with leading professional institutions and businesses worldwide and more than two thirds of its courses are recognized by relevant professional bodies. City has five Schools, each with their own distinctive profile and character. They are;

Sir John Cass Business School
Sir John Cass Business School has been at the forefront of business education for 50 years. Located in the heart of one of the world’s leading financial centres, Cass is part of an elite group of business schools to have been awarded triple accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). 

School of Arts & Social Sciences
The School of Arts & Social Sciences has a world-class reputation for dynamic, inspiring and rigorous education. Academic staff at the School are highly regarded in their fields and the research they undertake regularly informs academic debate and policy at regional, national and international levels. The School’s strengths in research and education lie in the following disciplines: cultural policy and management, economics, international politics, journalism (including creative writing and publishing), music, psychology and sociology. 

School of Health Sciences
With a history spanning 120 years, the School of Health Sciences is a leader in the field of healthcare education and health policy due to its interdisciplinary approach and world-class research. A leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate education in health and social care, students are taught by academic staff who are practitioners and who are engaged in interdisciplinary research across the fields of long-term care, health policy, management and research, optometry, public health, radiography and language and communication science. 

School of Mathematics, Computer Science & Engineering
A highly skilled and energetic community, the School of Mathematics, Computer Science & Engineering has offered courses to meet the needs of the professions for over 100 years. The School’s courses are designed to inspire students and equip them to meet the challenges of the future across the disciplines of civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and aeronautics, computer science, mathematics and library and information science. 

The City Law School
One of London’s major law schools, The City Law School offers an impressive range of academic and professional courses. Located in the very heart of legal London, it was the first law school in London to educate students and practitioners at all stages of legal education. Our academic staff are engaged in research in all major areas of law including criminal law and criminal justice, commercial law and contract law, European law, media law, maritime law and transport and professional practice.

Facilities

City boasts extensive library facilities with a collection of over 250,000 volumes, together with over 50,000 titles that can be accessed electronically on and off campus.

Cutting-edge technologies, 24-hour IT support via telephone and widely available Wi-Fi access ensure students enjoy excellent connectivity. City provide over 1,000 PCs, 200 Apple Macs and 57 Linux workstations, located in accessible areas around the campus, with 24-hour access for specific areas.

Students benefit from the use of state-of-the-art facilities specific to their subject areas. Students in the School of Mathematics, Computer Science & Engineering enjoy access to comprehensive laboratory facilities: The Handley Page Laboratory, for example, houses wind tunnels and flight simulators. The Department of Journalism boasts a broadcasting studio that was designed in collaboration with the leading figures from the industry.

The team of international student advisors can provide guidance on applying for a visa to study in the UK.. They also provide a comprehensive advice on everything from setting up a bank account to registering with a doctor. The Student Centre can also help with queries relating to finance, including details of scholarships for international students and loan schemes for students from Canada and the United States.

In 2015 City opened CitySport, our brand new sports and fitness center, offering a very different experience from traditional gym chains. It has over 120 fitness stations including the latest cardiovascular and resistance equipment and an extensive range of free weights catering for all training facilities. Its Olympic-standard sports hall provides space for team and solo sports such as football, badminton, basketball and volleyball. The membership fee is discounted for City students.

The Students’ Union aim to put fun into university life without breaking the bank. They have a wide range of student clubs and societies and regularly organise events such as end-of-term parties, open mic nights and various others.

All international first-year undergraduate students are guaranteed a place in the university’s halls of residence (see our website for terms and conditions). Graduate students can apply for rooms in dedicated graduate halls of residence and priority is given to international students. There is a range of choices available from self-contained studio flats to options with shared kitchens. Most of our accommodation is within a very short walk of the main university campus.

I feel like I have learned so much about different cultures and countries by having friends that belong to these countries, and it also gives me a chance to be able to visit them one day.
