AECC University College

The AECC University College (formerly Anglo-European College of Chiropractic) is a leading higher education institution, proud of its long history of excellence in chiropractic education, research and clinical training, which has earned it a world-renowned reputation throughout the chiropractic profession.

With a lively and dynamic student community, the AECC University College is situated in the beautiful town of Bournemouth, in the south of England, just metres away from miles of award-winning sandy beaches and picturesque countryside. The town has a vibrant and cosmopolitan community with direct access to London – just a two-hour train journey – and many international destinations, ideal for AECC students of whom more than half come from outside of the UK.

As a leader in the chiropractic field, the AECC University College attracts world-renowned teaching staff who are highly experienced and respected within their discipline. The majority of teaching happens in the historic main campus building, which houses lecture theatres and seminar rooms. The campus also boasts a state-of-the-art teaching clinic, which has 33 rooms, an exercize center, x-ray and scanning facilities and which welcomes around 1,000 patients a week – making it one of the busiest outpatient clinics in Europe.

The AECC University College is also home to the Bournemouth Open Upright MRI scanner, one of only four in the UK that provides a scanning facility for people who need to be scanned in certain positions, or for those who feel claustrophobic in conventional tunnel scanners.

Student Life

There is an active Students’ Union at AECC University College, responsible for organizing social events and acting as a liaison between staff and students. There are numerous clubs and societies for students to enjoy along with a range of events and activities held throughout the year, plus sports teams, a college gym and on-site bar.

The AECC’s integrated Master’s Chiropractic programme – MChiro (Hons) spans five years with two entry points:

  • MChiro (Hons) is a 1 + 4 year degree programme
  • Start studying at the AECC straight from High School (subject to the right grades)
  • No previous bachelor degree required
  • If you do hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, direct entry will be a consideration

It combines practical and theoretical learning and is accredited by the General Chiropractic Council and is in the process of gaining approval by the European Council on Chiropractic Education. Graduates who successfully complete the MChiro (Hons) program are fully-qualified chiropractors, and are eligible to apply for registration with the General Chiropractic Council. The AECC University College also provides a range of graduate programs and CPD opportunities.

AECC becomes a University College

In September the well-known Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth became AECC University College.

As a result of the institution’s hard work, the former College gained Taught Degree Awarding Powers, and in turn University College status. These achievements indicate a mature institution, and one that no longer requires another higher education institution to validate the courses it offers.
